He grew up in the rural Churchtown area on his parents' farm and attended rural elementary school as well as Waukon Schools. While going to school, Wyatt worked on the farm, helped at home, and drove school bus. After his schooling years, he began driving a milk truck and moved to Fredericksburg, IA, where he worked for Tri-State Breeders. There, he met Deb Brown and the two were married on September 15, 1979 at Peace United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg. Wyatt started hauling livestock in 1979 and in 1981 he and Deb moved to far northeast Iowa where they have lived ever since. During his driving career there were several times when he worked various other jobs to allow him to be closer to his family.
