Wendy M. Leyde - Jones, 49, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, formerly of Waterville, IA, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at her home in Inver Grove Heights. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7th, at 11:00 am at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church in rural Harpers Ferry, IA, with Fr. Louis Trzil officiating. Burial will be held in Sixteen Cemetery, rural Monona, IA. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon where there will be a 4:00 pm scripture service. Wendy Marie Leyde - Jones was born on September 29, 1959 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of George K. and Lorraine (LaMere) Walters. She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1977. On September 10, 1977 she married John "Steve" Jones at St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, WI. Steve died March 12, 1999. Wendy worked for Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank in Lansing, IA, for several years and also did some babysitting. On June 20, 2003 she married Mike Leyde in Stillwater, MN. Wendy and Mike lived in Inver Grove Heights where she worked for Cub Foods and Dr. Ridberg Chiropractic. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, gardening, bowling and camping. Wendy's most favorite times were spent with her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Leyde of Inver Grove Heights, MN; her children, Dan (LeAnne) Jones of Waterville, IA and Jessica (Levi) Palmer of Harpers Ferry, IA; 4 grandchildren, Max Jones, Dawson, Corbyn and Holten Palmer; 3 brothers, Ken (Rita Horkheimer) Walters of Prairie du Chien, WI, Steve (Jan) Walters of Bagley, WI and Mark (Karen) Walters of Marshfield, WI; 2 sisters, Robin (Bob) Wallace of Fitchburg, WI and Lori (George) Schaller of Holmen, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
Honorary casketbearers are Max Jones, Dawson, Corbyn, Holten and Levi Palmer and Brandon Leyde. Casketbearers are Brian and Brett Wallace, Morgan Smith, Mike Smith, Dale Jones and Bruce Ferguson.
