Wayne B. King, 68, of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Bryn Mawr Health Care Center in Minneapolis, MN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9th, at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.
Wayne Bernard King was born April 30, 1950, in Waukon, IA, the son of Bernard and Arlene (Hansmeier) King. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1968. Wayne attended Mankato Commercial College where he received a diploma in senior business administration in 1970, and also received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mankato State University in 1983, both in Mankato, MN. Wayne worked for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, IA, delivering RVs throughout the United States and Canada. He then went to work for Kraft Foods in Minneapolis, MN, before he went to work for the Minneapolis Airport driving taxi. Wayne then started his own taxi service in the Minneapolis area. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, classic cars, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan.
Survivors include a son Andrew King of Decorah, IA; his mother Arlene King of Waukon; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Bernard.
