Walter Joseph Larson

Walter J. Larson, 69, of Dorchester, IA, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at his home in Dorchester. Services will be held at a later date. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.


Walter Joseph Larson was born May 26, 1946, in Waukon, IA, the son of Henry and Marguerite (Blake) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Dorchester Catholic Church in Dorchester, IA, and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Waukon in 1964. Walter owned and operated Larson Wood Products, making custom furniture, refinishing and reparing furniture for many years.


Survivors include Dianne Johnson of Dorchester; a daughter Nichole (Dennis) Hart of Waterloo, IA; a step-daughter Dana Douglass, Soldiers Grove, WI, many grandchildren; one brother Kenneth (Sharon) Larson of Dorchester; seven sisters: Gen Rude of Decorah, Karen (Al) Ullerich of Guttenberg, IA, Alice Miller of Waukon, Rose Ann Williams of Pine Island, MN, Anna Marie (Tony) Danaher of Casper, WY, Kathy (Norbert) Kruse of Dorchester, and Linda Eiken of Spring Grove, MN; two sisters-in-law Joanne Larson of Waukon, and Deb (Rod) Sickles of Dorchester; and a brother-in-law Dave Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Danny Danielson; five brothers: Henry, Herbert, Ralph, Larry and Lowell Larson; five brothers-in-law: Ralph Doubek, Chuck Rude, Bart Williams, Keith Miller and Joe Eiken; a sister-in-law Mavis Larson; and a step-son Dan Douglass.
