Virginia A. Hazen, 70, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of services on Friday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
Virginia Ann Hazen was born May 16, 1949, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Jacob and Geraldine (Thorson) Iseli. She was baptized at Lansing Ridge Presbyterian Church in rural Lansing, IA, confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1967. On December 12, 1981, she married Dayton Hazen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. For several years, Virginia worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Virginia enjoyed fishing, traveling throughout the United States, collecting foreign currency, and listening to polka and country music, She also liked gambling, playing cards, and bingo. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son Jason (Emily) Iseli of Austin, MN; three grandchildren: Xavier Iseli, Kodiak Wentworth, and Callie Tovar; and a brother Kenny (Bonnie) Iseli of Harpers Ferry, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dayton, who died in 1993.
Honorary casketbearers are the Fritz family. Casketbearers are Mark Folsom, Matt Miller, David Christianson, Nathan and Bruce Benzing, and Richard Davis.
