Viola "Susie" Rosendahl, 92, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Susie was born on June 5, 1914 in rural Postville, IA, the daughter of Burton and Ella Marie (Rolfs) Livingood. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Postville High School in 1934. On January 20, 1939 she married Bruce Douglass in Waterloo, IA. After some time as a widow, Susie married Bennie Rosendahl on February 23, 1979 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. She spent her working life running the catalog department at the JC Penney Store in Waukon for 27 years. Susie enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, and traveling, which she did quite a little of with Bennie.
Survivors include a sister, Kathryn Shattuck of Marion, IA; a granddaughter, Dana Douglass and fiance' Tony Danielson of New Albin, IA; 3 great-granddaughters, Danielle, Signe and Regan; and a great-grandson, Kamen. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Bruce and Bennie; her two sons, Bruce Douglass Jr. and Michael Douglass; a grandson, Daniel Douglass; 2 great-grandchildren, Faron and Daniel; and 3 sisters, Virginia Clemens, Hazel Goeke and Rosetta Anderson.
Family graveside services were held at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon with Martin Funeral Home handling arrangements and Rev. Larry Olson officiating.
