Vicki L. Evanson, 61, of Waterville, IA, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 26th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Vicki Lee Evanson was born on November 5, 1951 in Waukon, IA, to Cletus and Carolyn (Schlitter) McKee. She spent her growing up years in the Lansing and New Albin, IA area, graduating from Kee High School in 1969. On August 8, 1970 she married Jim Evanson at the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA. After living in Lansing and Waukon for many years, Vicki and Jim moved to rural Waterville in 2000. Although she was a busy mother raising her three sons, Vicki managed an active career as well, often working more than one job. She started and operated Destinations in Graphics, a graphic design and printing firm she later sold to Howe Printing but continued to be active in. She was a real estate broker associate for over 20 years, most recently working with Smed & Associates Realty in Waukon. In addition to her other jobs, Vicki has been the bookkeeper at Jim's Full Service in Waukon for many years.
Vicki was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. John's Lutheran Church, the National and Iowa Realtors Associations, and formerly served on the board of the NEI Realtors Association. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed camping and horseback riding, boating, fishing, shuffleboard, playing pool, and card club. She also spent time gardening and riding with Jim in their convertible. She followed her boys activities in school and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Jim of Waterville; 3 sons, Aaron (Kari) of Kansas City, MO, Aarik (Mary) of Ames, IA, and Aandi (Patty) of Lansing, IA; 5 grandchildren, Isabela, Angus, Cadan, Parker, and Elena; a sister, Sharyn (Don) McCormick of Harpers Ferry, IA; 2 brothers, Dean McKee of Lansing and Vern McKee of Chippewa Falls, WI; and her mother-in-law, Helen Evanson of Waukon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Carolyn Mckee and her father-in-law Melbourne Evanson.
