Ursula Bertha Quanrude

Ursula B. Quanrude, 96, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, July 27, 2018, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 31st, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 3:30 PM scripture service.

Ursula Bertha Quanrude was born December 9, 1921, in rural Lansing, IA, the daughter of John and Mary (Hammel) Becker. She attended country schools in rural Lansing. On May 20, 1942, she married Harold Quanrude at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Rectory in Lansing. They farmed together in Hanover Township before moving into Waukon, IA, in the early 1960s. Ursula worked at the Waukon Bakery for several years before she went to work for Quandahl's Bakery. She volunteered at the Allamakee County Museum for several years.

Ursula was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, working in her garden, playing and calling bingo at Northgate Care Center, listening to country music, and following the Toe Tappers. Ursula also enjoyed going to the boat in Marquette and traveling to Branson, MO. She loved spending time with her family, especially family gatherings.

Survivors include her children: Ron Quanrude and Terry Quanrude, both of Waukon, Merle Jane (Ken) Olsen of Maple Grove, MN, Eileen (Bob) Madison of Goldfield, IA, and Dianne (Dave) Estes of Waukon; nine grandchildren: Charlotte, Laurie, Chris, Fanshawn, Shawn, Jenny, Luke, John, and Keith; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Bernadette Becker of Lansing. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold, who died in 1989; a son LaVern; five sisters: Lucy and Rose Becker, Ann Zoll, Elizabeth Burroughs, and Theresa McCabe; three brothers: Aloysius "Allie", Joseph, and George Becker; and an infant brother.

Honorary casketbearers are Terry and Ron Quanrude, Bob Madison, and Ken Olsen. Casketbearers are Chris Belz, Luke and Shawn O'Neill, Mike Cruse, Ray Burroughs, and Kenny Becker.
