Tony E. Schulte, 61, of Spring Grove, MN, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23rd, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Dorchester Catholic Church in Dorchester, IA, with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon where there will be a 2:45 PM scripture service.
Anthony Emmett Schulte was born August 24, 1956, in Waukon, IA, the son of Cletus and Phyllis (Ryan) Schulte. He attended school in Spring Grove, MN, country schools in Allamakee County and graduated from Waukon High School in 1974. On April 16, 1977, he married Deborah Ann Mettille at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound rural Harpers Ferry, IA. Tony farmed, drove truck for several area trucking companies, and was self-employed as a mechanic.
He was a member of St. Mary's Dorchester Catholic Church. Tony enjoyed restoring older cars, tractors, and collecting guns. He and Deb enjoyed car cruises, tractor rides, and cruises on the ocean. They also enjoyed traveling in their car throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Survivors include his wife Deb of Spring Grove, MN; his children: Shelly (Jesse Peterson) Schulte of Spring Grove, MN, Corey (Naomi) Schulte of Oronoco, MN, and Erick Schulte of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren: Dalton (Erin), Baihly, Keegan, Ethan, and Elisabeth Schulte; a great-grandson Cooper Garret Schulte; a brother Ray Schulte; three sisters: Ann (Mike) Monnens, Peggy (Jim) Hennessy, and Jane Schulte; four step-brothers: Wayne, David, Dennis, and Randy Tweeten; two step-sisters: Beverly Stortz and Darlene Dahl; two brothers-in-law: John (Lee) Mettille and Cletus (Debbie) Mettille; two sisters-in-law: Linda Mettille and Pat Moore; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Marlys Tweeten Schulte; a brother Mike C. Schulte; parents-in-law LeRoy and Mary K. Mettille; and a brother-in-law John Moore.
Honorary casketbearers are Tony's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casketbearers are Corey, Erick, Keegan, Dalton. and Dave Schulte, and Howard Seibert.
