Thomas "Tom" John Mccabe

Thomas "Tom" J. McCabe, 65, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, June 28, 2020, in rural Waukon. Private family services will be held at a later date. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Thomas John McCabe was born August 7, 1954, in Waukon, IA, the son of Leo and Theresa (Becker) McCabe. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, attended St. Patrick Catholic School, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1972. On September 18, 1976, he married Deborah Opfer at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon. Tom farmed with his father in Jefferson Township in rural Waukon, where they milked dairy cows and raised crops. Tom also did carpentry work in the Waukon area for several years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. Tom also enjoyed working with his son Aaron whenever Aaron had a house remodeling project.

Survivors include his wife Deb of Waukon; his children: Aaron (Sarah) McCabe of Waukon, Jessica McCabe of La Crescent, MN, and Zach (Sanae) McCabe of Doha, Qatar; four granddaughters: Hannah and Lauren McCabe and Elly and Yumi McCabe; a brother Jerry McCabe of Waukon; two sisters; two brothers; and his father and mother-in-law Virgil and Betty Opfer of Waukon. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Mary McCabe.
