Thomas "Tom" George Kinley

Thomas "Tom" G. Kinley, 82, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Thursday, October 1, 2020, at his home. A funeral service for immediate family members will be held at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Pius Cherry Mound Cemetery in rural Harpers Ferry. Condolences can be sent to Janice Kinley 411 Ion Road, Harpers Ferry, IA 52146.

Thomas George Kinley was born July 3, 1938, in Waukon, IA, the son of Harold and Florence (Waters) Kinley. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church and attended Ion country school, both in rural Harpers Ferry. Tom served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 - 1959, where he was a sharpshooter. After the service, he lived in Texas for a short time. On August 25, 1961, he married Janice McKee at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church. They farmed together in Linton Township, rural Harpers Ferry, where they milked cows and raised pigs and beef cows. Tom enjoyed collecting guns, fishing, taking trips to Canada, and hunting deer, pheasants, and squirrel, and spending time in the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Janice of Harpers Ferry; his children: Shane (Sandy Johanningmeier) Kinley of Waterville, IA, and Wesley (Patricia) Kinley and Dalton Kinley, both of Harpers Ferry; nine grandchildren; three sisters: Mary (Joe) Davis of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kathleen (Rudy) Kinley Sanchez of Las Vegas, NV, and Patsy Kinley of Montana. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Larry; and his favorite uncle Floyd Buckshot Waters.

Casketbearers are Shane, Wesley, Dalton, and Adrian Kinley, Josh Smith, and Mike McGeough.
