Ted Harvey Bodley
February 6, 1921 — July 18, 2015
Ted H. Bodley, 94, of Waukon, IA, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 23rd, at 1:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Richard Holliday officiating. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements for the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Allamakee County 4-H.
Ted Harvey Bodley was born February 6, 1921, in Marshalltown, IA; his parents were Willis and Harriett (Laird) Bodley. He attended country school in the Newton area and the Newton High School in Newton, IA. He farmed with his parents. On October 26, 1941, he married Betty Tipton of Baxter, IA, in Unionville, MO. Ted and Betty farmed near Baxter, IA, Maynard, IA, and Postville, before moving to Ludlow Township in rural Waukon, where they raised crops and Black Angus cattle. He retired from working with his cattle at the age of 90.
Ted was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and the Black Angus Association. Ted loved working with his Black Angus Cattle, horses, and taking care of his pets. He also loved helping his children and grandchildren with their 4-H projects, going on picnics, and fishing with his family.
Ted is survived by Betty, his wife of 73 years, of Waukon; his children: Rebecca (Roswell) Davis of Meriden, CT, Craig (JoAnne) Bodley of Postville, IA, Cheryl (Roger) Arthur of Sumner, IA, and Allen (Susan) Bodley of Hawkeye, IA; nine grandchildren: Stephanie (Mark) Jordan of Meriden, CT, Teddy (Lisa) Davis of Cheshire, CT, Jamie (Elaine) Bodley of Waukon, Vicki (Kenny) Klepper of Castalia, IA, Trent (Tiffany) Bodley of Postville, Angela Arthur and Amanda (Joe) Struss, both of West Des Moines, IA, Tim (Selenia) Bodley of Hawkeye, IA, and Scott Bodley of Owatana, MN; and 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Honorary casketbearers are his grandchildren.
