Stanton “Stan” Paus, 75, of Waukon, IA, formerly of Eitzen, MN, passed away on February 26, 2026, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. A private service will be held at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Eitzen to honor his life and service. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
Stanton L. Paus was born March 14, 1950, and grew up in northeast Iowa, graduating from Waukon High School. He was then drafted into the United States Army, serving his country from 1969 to 1971. On March 25, 1969, Stan married Betty Kohnen and together they welcomed two children. The two later divorced, but their shared years and the family they created remained an important part of his life story.
After returning from the military, Stan began working in a repair shop, where he discovered a lifelong calling. He was a true jack of all trades—someone who could fix almost anything that was broken. Whether it was machinery, tools, or everyday household items, Stan approached each challenge with patience, skill, and a knack for making things work again.
Stan is survived by his brother Russ (Sally) Paus; daughter Tracy; son Tom; and seven grandchildren, all of whom carry forward their own memories of him.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Northgate Care Center for the compassion, patience, and attentive care they provided to Stan in his final years.
