Sharon Kay Harms Larsen, 68, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24th, at 11:00 AM at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waukon, with Pastor David Schafer officiating. Burial will be at Old West Paint Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Sharon Larsen was born on June 11, 1942 in Greene, IA, to William and Caroline (Bachmann) Harms. Her family moved to Elma, IA and later to Waukon. On May 24, 1958 she married Donald Larsen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Sharon was a homemaker and a cook at various restaurants in Waukon. Sharon's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She would visit them and loved to bake and cook for them as often as she could. Her specialties were her potato salad, chocolate dessert, chocolate chip cookies and homemade noodles. She loved to play Euchre at the Harms family reunions. Sharon's faith and church were very important to her. She was co-president of the Sarah Circle and part of the Mission Circle Quilting groups at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church. Sharon also volunteered at the Good Samaritan Center.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Larsen of Waukon; 9 children Pamela (Mike) Robson of Coon Valley, WI, Bryan (Mary) Larsen of Holmen, WI, Sue (Randy) Loken of Mindoro, WI, Scott (Karla) Larsen of Livingston, WI, Todd Larsen of Lansing, IA, Bruce (Janet) Larsen Lansing, IA, Chad (Kelly) Larsen Zanesville, OH, Michelle (Steve) Johnson of Holmen, WI, John (Crystal) Larsen of Clinton, IA; 34 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Duane (Verna) Harms of Denver, IA, Donald (Betty) Harms of Marble Rock, IA, David (Carol) Harms of Alpharetta, GA; a sister, Donna Sivesind of Waukon, IA; a brother-in-law, Bill Ehling of Floyd, IA; a sister-in-law, Donna Harms of San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harold, Willard and Roger Harms; 3 sisters, Mabel Ehling, Cora Harms and Shirley Sly; and 2 brother-in-laws, Gordon Sivesind and Walt Sly.
Casketbearers are Robert Robson, Joshua Larsen, Jacob Loken, Christopher Larsen, Mitchell Larsen, Zachery Larsen.
