Sharon A. Carter, 45, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Services will be held Saturday, April 16th, at 3:00 PM at the Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home.
Sharon Ann Carter was born October 7, 1965 in Niskayuna, New York to Edward and Cynthia (Martell) Gifford. She grew up in upstate New York. She worked as an Optometrist's Assistant prior to diagnosis of MS in 1992. In 2000 she moved to Harpers Ferry, Iowa where she met Arthur Carter in 2006, they were married on Sept. 29, 2007 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Carter of Harpers Ferry, IA; one daughter, Sarah Smith of Harpers Ferry; her father, Edward (Barb) Gifford of Schenectady, NY; her mother, Cynthia Gifford and companion Richard Keister of Sun City Center, FL; two step children, Lynn Carter of Robbins, IA and Michelle Hermeier of Stoddard, WI; a sister, Darlene Weiner of Mendham, NJ and a brother Tim Gifford of California.
