December 18, 1962 — January 6, 2012

Scott James Hill, 49, Shellsburg, IA, passed away January 6, 2012, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer, in his home, with the presence of his family. Public Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday. January 8, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton where a Scripture Service will begin at 6 p.m. conducted by Sister Mary Hargrafen. Friends may call at the Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa from 3 to 7 p.m., on Monday, January 9th. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, Iowa with Father John Moser and Father David Ambrossy officiating. Interment will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing.


Scott was born on December 18, 1962 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Kenneth 'Sam' (Charlotte) Hill of Harpers Ferry, IA and Mary 'Josie' (Joe) Davis of Cedar Rapids, IA. He married Vicky (Cooper) Hill on May 2, 1987 in Lansing, Iowa. They have four children, Ryan (Lena) Hill of Austin, MN, and Elizabeth Hill, Patrick Hill, and Sarah Hill all of Shellsburg, IA. Scott has two sisters Tammy (Freddie) Maneely and Billie Davis, both of Cedar Rapids, IA. His mother and father-in-law are Vernon and Eilene Cooper of Lansing IA, brothers-in-law Wayne (Tammy) Cooper and Ron (Angie) Cooper both of Lansing, IA, sisters-in-law Deb (Dan) Windfield of Alburnett, IA, and Brenda (Scott) Schorr of Mantorville, MN.


Scott spent his life working hard as a machinist at Iowa Precision Industries and Rockwell Collins, both in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was also the Chief Stewart for the Sheet Metal Workers Union #263.


Scott touched the lives of many through many years of coaching. He was involved in Shellsburg T-ball, Little League baseball, Pony League baseball, and soccer. He was also a football coach for the Metro Youth Football Association. Scott was also a leader for the Shellsburg Cub Scouts.

In his spare time, Scott was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active in the SAPADAPASO. Scott was President of the Shellsburg Fire Dept and also a member of the Shellsburg First Responders. He had a love for hunting, was a master tomato grower, and loved to grow a garden. He enjoyed supporting all of his favorite sports teams which included: the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings, Lansing Kee-Hawks, Kasson-Mantorville KoMets, Alburnett Pirates, Wartburg Knights, Mt. Mercy Mustangs, Iowa State Cyclones, Iowa Hawkeyes, and his beloved Green Bay Packers. Scott also thoroughly enjoyed beating all his nieces and nephews in Euchre.
