Sandy K. Connor, 50, of Walford, IA, formerly of Waukon, IA, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, near Walford from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. A private family service will be held later.
Sandra "Sandy" Kay Connor was born September 18, 1962, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Robert William and Joan Marie (Saddler) Lloyd. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church in rural Harpers Ferry, IA. After graduating from Waukon High School in 1981, Sandy started her family with her then husband Steve Knox. On July 25, 2000, Sandy married Robert Connor at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Beginning in 1994, when Sandy realized her true gift of floral design, she established and operated Sycamore Floral in Waukon. After selling Sycamore Floral in 2005, Sandy and Bob moved to the Cedar Rapids, IA area where Sandy was continuing her work as a florist.
Sandy was a very creative person. She enjoyed designing and interior decorating, and often found materials at garage sales. She was also an artist and loved to paint. She loved her family and her grandchildren were her life. Sandy was adored for her big heart and loving nature. Sandy's smile and kind voice will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandy is survived by her husband Bob Connor of Walford, IA; children: Carrie (Brady) Waldron of Luana, IA, Travis Knox of Iowa City, IA, and Troy (Ashley) Knox of Waukon, Jason (Liza) Connor and Corey Connor, both of Waukon; Brandi Moore (whom she considered a daughter) of Lansing, IA; grandchildren: Jayden, Bliss, and Parker; her sister Barbara (Karen Hovenga) Lloyd of Tempe, AZ; five brothers: Bill (Sandy) Lloyd, Mike (Gwen) Lloyd, and Rob (Shannon) Lloyd, all of Harpers Ferry, John Lloyd of Decorah, IA, and Randy (Wendy) Lloyd of Madison, WI; a brother-in-law Scott (Kim) Connor of Caledonia, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and other family. Sandy was very excited to welcome the upcoming arrivals of two new grandchildren, Baby Waldron (Carrie & Brady) and Baby Knox (Troy & Ashley).
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother James; grandmother Vi Traversey; and Melvin and Eleanor Nolting.
Honorary casket bearers are Travis and Troy Knox, Jason and Corey Connor, Brady Waldron, and Scott and Sean Connor.
