June 18, 1961 — April 22, 2012

Sandra J. Ehrhardt, 50, of Monona, IA, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 22, 2012, in rural Monona, IA. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27th, at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, IA, with Rev. Richard Eick officiating. Burial will be at Postville Cemetery, Postville, IA. Friends may call from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Sandra Jane Ehrhardt was born on June 18, 1961 in Postville, IA, the daughter of Harold and Sharon (Stegen) Miene. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville and graduated from MFL High School in Monona, IA, in 1979 and attended NICC in Calmar, IA, for Ag Business. On July 26, 1980 she married Mark Ehrhardt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. Sandra first worked at Norby's Farm Fleet in Elkader, IA. In 1984 she and Mark purchased a farm in Linton Township in rural Monona. On November 9, 2010 they were the first in Northeast Iowa to start milking cows with the Lely Astronaut Robotic milking system they call "Harold". Sandra took great pride and spent countless hours working with the new system. She enjoyed promoting the dairy industry and talking with other farmers about possible improvements within their facility.


In her youth Sandra was involved in the Luana Sunny Sues 4-H club and was the first female president of the MFL FFA Chapter. Sandra was a member of Zion United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, and served on church council. She served on the Allamakee County Dairy Board, Allamakee County Farm Bureau Board, and FSA Board. Sandra was the Allamakee County 4-H Youth Coordinator for several years in early 2000. She was also leader of the 4-H Toppers 4-H club, volunteered for FFA and multiple 4-H judging events. She was involved with several other organizations throughout the state of Iowa. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working with the youth, mushroom hunting, watching things grow such as her grandchildren, the field crops and farm animals. Sandra had a great sense of humor that will be forever missed.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Ehrhardt of Monona; her children, Monica (Brian) Enyart, and their children, Olivia and Bradley all of Postville, Melissa (Randy) Wedo and their daughter, Kendyl all of Monona, and Samantha Ehrhardt of Cedar Rapids, IA; her mother, Sharon Miene of Postville; 2 sisters, Deborah (Mike) Horn of Mission, TX and Linda (Joe) Zuercher of Postville; 2 brothers, James Miene of Waukon and Fred (Annie) Miene of Prairie du Chien, WI; her Godchildren, Desarae Miene and Jan Ryherd; her mother-in-law, Pat (Kenny) Breitsprecher of St. Olaf, IA; a brother-in-law, Carroll Ehrhardt of Richland Center, WI; and 2 sisters-in-law, Ruth Ehrhardt of Cedar Rapids, IA and Donna (Dan) Ryherd of Webster City, IA; her Godparents, Willard (Karla) Miene of Luana, IA, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold; her father-in-law, William Ehrhardt; her paternal grandparents, Fred and Frances Miene and her maternal grandparents, Mervin and Clara Stegen.

Casketbearers are Nick, Matt, and Chris Zuercher, Kelby, Don and Jordan Moose, Joe Griffith and Keith Canter. Honorary casketbearers are Rick Moose, Jim Moose, Joe Zuercher, Mike Horn, Virgil Thorstenson, Randy Hamm, Dean Walz, Scott Kregel, and Bob Griffith.
