Russel O. Collins, 54, of Waterville, IA, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13th, at 11:00 AM at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Russel Owen Collins was born on December 3, 1957 in Waukon, IA, the son of Grant W. and Vergene (Harris) Collins. He was baptized and confirmed at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA. Russel attended Waterville Elementary School, Waukon Jr. High, graduated from Waukon High School in 1976 and graduated from NICC in Calmar, IA, in 1978 in the farm implement program. He farmed with his family in rural Waterville and worked at the Waukon Bakery for several years. On August 26, 1995 he married Kitty Peck at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church. Russel was a member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church and Allamakee County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed farming, baking, cooking, traveling and learning about all types of history. Russel had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Kitty of Waterville; 2 brothers, Bill of Waterville and Bob of Cedar Rapids, IA; 2 sisters, Carla Schulz of Lakefield, MN and Joyce (Dave Kiley) Rounds of Harpers Ferry, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Casketbearers are Kent, Ken, Mike, Keith and Ian McCormick, Mike McGeough, Dustin Rounds and Bill Collins.
