Rose Ann Snitker was born November 26, 1947, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin Thomas and Evelyn Charlotte (Glaus) Andregg. While in high school, Rose worked in the superintendent's office and right after graduating, she became the secretary at West Elementary School in Waukon, retiring in 2016 after 50 years of service. On June 29, 1973, she married Virgil Lawrence Snitker at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. She and Virgil loved to fish with her dad on the Mississippi and also enjoyed playing cards. Rose met with her breakfast club almost daily at the S&D Café, loved reading and usually had several books going at once, and collected bird items. She was also a member at St. John's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. Rose was smart as whip, but very private and tight-lipped.
She is survived by her three stepchildren: Michael Snitker of Decorah, IA, Michelle (Eric) Bolhuis of Platteville, CO, and Mark (Lynn) Snitker of Rollingstone, MN; five step-grandchildren: Allison (Terry) Dion of Greeley, CO, Garrett Bolhuis of Platteville, CO, and Brett, Peyton, and Aiden Snitker of Rollingstone, MN; a brother-in-law Bernard Pausch of Waukon; three sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Andregg of Lansing, IA, and Kay Snitker and Kathy Snitker, both of Waukon; and several nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil in 2009; two sisters: JoAnn (Bud) Johnson and Mary Paush; and her brother Charles "Chuck" Andregg.
Honorary casketbearers are Clark, Craig, and Bruce Snitker. Casketbearers are Ben Holzworth, Eric Bolhuis, Dusty and Darren Snitker, Lane Lenth, and Kyle Johnson.
