Ronald G. Benzing, 75, of Waterville, IA, died Saturday, November 10, 2018, at his home. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 14th, at 1:00 PM at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA, with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Inurnment will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Ronald Gene Benzing was born March 8, 1943, at the hospital in Postville, IA, the son of Robert Winston and Irene Marcel (Jones) Benzing. He was baptized and confirmed at the Giard United Methodist Church and graduated from Mar-Mac High School in McGregor, IA. On April 4, 1964, Ron married Judith Emma Brown in Monona, IA. The couple briefly lived in Cedar Rapids, IA, before making their home in Allamakee County. Ron did carpentry work, sold feed, and worked for Herb's Paint and Repair body shop. Out of all the things he ever did, Ron loved farming the most, especially combining. Throughout the years, he raised dairy and beef cows, grew crops, and did custom work.
He was a member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA. When his children were younger, Ron was a 4-H leader. His all-time favorite thing was Allis-Chalmers tractors and consequently his favorite color was orange. Ron enjoyed restoring old tractors and belonged to the Rivers and Bluffs Classic Tractor Club. He also enjoyed bowling, country music, frequently going out dancing with Judy, and watching his grandkids' sporting events.
Ron is survived by his wife Judy; his son Brian (Deb) and their children: Bryana, Dustin, Eric, and Emily, son Brad (Becky) and their children: Kody, Kaley, and Katelyn, son Bruce (Leah) and children: Tyler, Adam, Nathan, and Carter, son Blaire (Lori) and children: Brittani, Carlee, Mitch, and Cole, and son Blaine (Andrea) and their children: Lakin and Jenna; four brothers: Roger (Diane), Paul (Margaret), David (Sharon), and Kevin (Karen); two sisters-in-law: Jan (Rick) Snitker and Carolyn Brown; and two brothers-in-law: Jerry (Celia) Brown and Joel (Jeannie) Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Taylor Benzing; his father and mother-in-law John and Ella Mae Brown; and a brother-in-law Jack Brown.
Honorary casketbearers are Ron's grandchildren.
