Roger D. Bennett, 63, of Waukon, IA, and formerly of Lansing, IA, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at his residence in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 26th, at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial will be in Village Creek Cemetery, rural Lansing. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Roger Dwayne Bennett was born on September 17, 1947 in Lansing to Earl and Vera (McMullen) Bennett. Roger was born and raised in Village Creek, rural Lansing, and graduated from Lansing Kee High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He married Colette Burke, they later divorced. For most of his life Roger lived in the Lansing area, moving to Waukon in 2007, recently Roger worked in the warehouse at Cabela's in Prairie du Chien, WI.
Enjoying the outdoors Roger spent his time hunting ginsing, trapping, fishing, hunting, and playing softball, he was also a member of the NRA.
Survivors include three children, Beau (Terri) Bennett of Farmersburg, IA, Becky Thiede of Madison, WI and Casey Bennett and Fiance Christopher Wicka of Winona, MN; seven grandchildren, Caleb Bennett, Ashden and Autumn Wicka, Jaisyn Bogdonovich, Aubrey Thiede, Mailia and Marquise Townsend; two step grandchildren, Brandon Lough and Brianna Gilliland; and four siblings, Charlotte Olson, Joan Alexander, Robert and Richard Bennett. He is preceded in death by his parents; three half brothers, Lowell, Cleve and Forrest Bennett and a half sister Eva Bennett.
