Roberta "Bobbie" Becker

Roberta "Bobbie" J. Becker, 88, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 13th, at 11:00 AM at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. In consideration of concerns regarding Covid-19, social distancing and wearing of a masked is required. Cards may be sent to Jason Becker at P.O. Box 392, McGregor, IA 52157. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Roberta "Bobbie" Jacqueline Becker was born on December 25, 1932, in the village of Myron, IA, in rural Postville, IA, the daughter of Stiner Joseph "Joe" and Rose Mary "Mae" (Harris) Evans. She attended the Myron country school for three years, went to school in Postville for three years, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1950. On December 28, 1950, she married Dale Becker who was home on leave from the Air Force. While he was in the service, they lived in Biloxi, MS, and San Antonio, TX, for two years each before returning to Waukon. After 28 years of marriage, they divorced. In addition to being a busy mother, Bobbie had a working career at Waukon State Bank that spanned for 50 years. She started in bookkeeping, worked in the loan department, was a teller, and spent her last several years before retirement as the manager of the drive-in location. During this time Bobbie also served as Waukon City Treasurer for many years.

She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and taking long hikes at many different spots throughout Allamakee County. Above all, Bobbie enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren whenever she got the chance.

Survivors include her daughter Debra (Bill) Schaefer of Hawthorne, CA, and their children: Christopher, Melissa, and Matthew; and her son Jason (Janet) Becker of McGregor, IA, and their children: Brett, Bailee, and Mattie; a great-grandson Bryce; two sisters-in-law: Lois Evans and Mary Bublitz, both of Waukon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Otto, Harris, and Kenneth Evans; three sisters: Angie Bodell, Gretta Williams, and Bonnie Reardon; and a very special friend Donald Schwartzhoff.

Honorary casketbearers are Carol Krumme, Rose Ryan, and Mary Bublitz. Casketbearers are her grandchildren and Joe Evans.
