Robert D. Wroble, 87, of rural Harpers Ferry, IA, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA. Family and friends may visit with family from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 28th at Point of View Bed and Breakfast, 416 Luster Heights Road rural Harpers Ferry, IA. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert David Wroble was born on July 14, 1924 in Casper, WY, the son of James John and Sarah Jane (Bennett) Wroble. He graduated in 1943 from Natrona County High School in Casper, WY. On February 13, 1946 he married Myra Jeanette Flau in Kansas. Robert worked for Marathon Oil Company as a pipeline engineer in Wyoming, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. Robert and Myra moved to rural Harpers Ferry, IA, in 1995. He was a member of the VFW and Lions Club both in Marion, IA. Robert enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, working in his garden, fishing, cutting firewood and spending time at his tree farm on his acreage in rural Harpers Ferry.
Survivors include his wife, Myra of Harpers Ferry; his children, Stephanie (Robert) Meyer of Vandalia, IL, Andrew (Dianne) Wroble of Harpers Ferry and Jed Wroble of Libby, MT; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, James John Wroble; 4 sisters, Jean and Dorothy Wroble, Lucille Pickler and Estella F. Coen.
