Robert "Bob" Link, 52, of Waukon, IA, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 4:00 PM scripture service.
Robert John Link was born April 2, 1959 in Waukon to Tony and Theresa (Kelleher) Link. He attended St. Patrick Grade School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1977. Bob grew up on a farm and learned to love anything farm related. For over 30 years he worked at Equity Livestock Northeast Iowa Sales Commission and helped several local farmers with work they needed done.
Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1570. He enjoyed Nascar, playing cards and collected coins and stamps. Family get togethers and spending time with his nieces and nephews were very important to him.
Survivors include his parents; Tony and Theresa Link of Waukon; a brother, Paul (Betty) Link of Waukon, a sister, Lori (Larry) Soukup of Ridgeway, IA; 7 nieces and nephews, Erin (Tyler) Plein, Bridget Schobert, Amy Pfiffner (Elliott Evanson), Tony Schobert, Brittany Link, Jessica Sharrock, and Brady Link all of Waukon; a step niece, Meagan Soukup of Rochester, MN; a step nephew, Landon Soukup of Rochester, MN; a very special great niece, Lauren Plein of Waukon; and many more aunts, uncles and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Margaret "Peg" Schobert.
Honorary casketbearers are Tom & Lynn Thomson, Jerry & Judy Sommer and the Equity Livestock Northeast Iowa Sales Commission Co-Workers. Casketbearers are Dan Lyons, Dave Lyons, Joel Sommer, Bryan Schulte, Jack Heffern, Steve Walsky, Dani Bahr and Lou Swenson.
