Richard William Troendle was born July 9, 1954, in Waukon, IA, the son of Raymond F. and Marjorie Catherine (Robert) Troendle. He was baptized at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon and attended Kee High School in Lansing. On April 3, 1976, Richard married the girl next door Debra Kay Russell in Homer, MN. They continued living in Churchtown and Richard worked as a security guard for many places including the Genoa, WI, power plant. He later was a delivery driver for Wheeler's Autobody in Waterloo, IA, before retiring in 2016.
His true passion was antiques and was always on the hunt for the best antique shows and the best BBQ. He had an eBay store, selling and buying antiques for at least 25 years. Richard loved going to antique shows and flea markets and in 2022, he and Debbie traveled Tennessee and Kentucky during the 127 Yard Sale (the world's longest yard sale). He also liked going to muscle car shows and "vintage" concerts, seeing the Beach Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others. Fishing and bird watching were favorite pastimes as well, but he absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren the most.
Richard is survived by Debbie, his wife of 49 years, of Churchtown; two sons: Nathan Troendle of Churchtown and Nicholas Troendle of Cannon Falls, MN; grandchildren: Justin Olson, Austin and Natalie Troendle, and Ashlyn Stark; his brother Randy (Kris Mabin) Troendle of Arena, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother Robert Service.
Honorary bearers are Austin Troendle, Ashlyn Stark, Austin and Allen Ludeking, Kelsey Weipert, Susanne Spurgeon, and Wayne, Elizabeth, Christopher, Carianna, and Emmalee Young.
