Richard Henry Marti was born on February 12, 1940 at a downtown doctor's office in Waukon, IA. His parents were Albert Herman and Ellen Luella (Christianson) Marti. Richard was baptized and confirmed at Waterville Lutheran Church and attended Jefferson #7 rural school. Like their father, Richard and his twin brother Robert were farmers through and through and worked right into the family farming operation which included dairy, beef cattle, hogs, and crops. On September 29, 1963, Richard married Annabelle Decker at the Waterville Lutheran Church. They soon bought a farm of their own very near the home place. Richard was happiest when he could be outdoors working the land or tending his livestock. He loved the farming life and was happy to get to work side by side with his twin brother and best friend Robert. He also had a special relationship with his grandchildren and truly enjoyed the time he spent with them.
Survivors include his wife Annabelle; 2 sons, Richard E. and Albert L., all of Waukon; a daughter-in-law Elisha; his brother Robert of Luana, IA; and seven grandchildren: Alex of Iowa City, IA, Gabby of Ames, IA, and Madelyn, Marin, Olivia, John, and Cora, all at home. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casketbearers are Richard E. Marti, Albert L. Marti, Alex and Gabrielle Marti, Brad Decker, and James Pladsen.
