Richard E. Howe, 59, of Waukon, IA, died on Thursday October 1, 2020, as a result of a semi truck accident south of Waukon. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 6th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. In consideration of concerns regarding Covid-19, social distancing and wearing of masks is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in support of Denise and Jeremiah. Condolences may be sent to Denise Howe at 107 3rd Ave. SW, Waukon, IA 52172. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Richard Edmond Howe was born August 23, 1961, in Waukon, IA, the son of Kenneth and Margie (Anderson) Howe. He was baptized and confirmed at St Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, attended St. Patrick Catholic School, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1979. On November 24, 2007, he married Denise Pearson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. Richard was a heavy equipment operator for the Local 139 based out of Wisconsin, retiring in 2018. After he retired, he drove a feed truck for the Waukon Feed Ranch and also drove semi for J & B Express in Racine, WI.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, International Union of Operating Engineers, and Operating Engineer Local 139. Richard enjoyed camping, kayaking, four wheeling with his family, and wood working. He also enjoyed NASCAR, working on cars with his son-in-law Theodore, and collecting train sets and cast iron models of heavy equipment.

Survivors include his wife Denise of Waukon; his children: Jeremiah Howe of Waukon, Emily Clauson of Monona, and Abbey (Theodore) Criswell and Jacob Clauson, both of Waukon; three grandchildren: Jayden, Ezra, and Sawyer Criswell; his siblings: James (Mary Alice) Howe of Woodstock, IL, Gary (Debbra) Howe of Osage Beach, MO, Karen (Patrick) Whalen of Lansing, IA, Mari (David) Glassmaker of Solon Springs, WI, and Donald (Barbara) Howe of Waukon; his father and mother-in-law Harold and Sandra Pearson of Greenfield, WI; two brothers-in-law: Don (Lori) Pearson of Elkhorn, WI, and Brandon (Shelly) Pearson of Muskego, WI; and several nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Addison Faith Howe; his parents; and two nephews: Daniel Howe and Mark Nalley.

Honorary casketbearers are Rich's nephews and nieces, Kori Chavez, Brandon Pearson, and Bob and John Kleinschmidt. Casketbearers are Theodore Criswell, James, Gary, and Donald Howe, Karen Whalen, Mari Glassmaker, Dan Anderson, and Randy Jacobson.
