Richard W. Fruechte, 86, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31st, at 10:30 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Richard Wallace Fruechte was born October 1, 1926, to Ernest, Sr. and Dorothy (Hickey) Fruechte in Lanesboro, MN. He lived with his family in Houston, MN, before moving to New Albin, IA, where Richard grew up and attended school. Richard worked at Fruechte Livestock as a bookkeeper, and then went to work at the Interstate Producers Livestock Association sale barn in Waukon, IA, as an office manager and bookkeeper. He retired in the early 1990s.
Being very number oriented, Richard loved making charts and graphs, and investing in the stock market. He also loved spending time with family, and will be remembered as a good man.
Richard is survived by his sister-in-law Lorna Fruechte of Waukon; nephew Donald Fruechte of Waukon; and his cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernie Fruechte; and nephew David Fruechte.
Casketbearers are Donald Fruechte, Steve Bakke, Lawrence Benda, Kenny Baumler, Don Kruse, and Dale Roney.
