Richard H. Cooper, 62, of Waukon, IA, died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12th at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Rev. Richard N. Eick officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service on Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.


Richard Herman Cooper was born on December 4, 1944 in Waukon, the son of Donald E. and Florence (Nolting) Cooper. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Richard graduated from Waukon High School in 1962 and graduated from Diesel Mechanic School in Chicago, IL. In 1964 he married Marilyn Marti. They were later divorced. Richard then married Beverly Duffy and they moved to North Dakota where he worked for a construction company that built grain elevators in North Dakota and the Minnesota area. They were later divorced. Richard moved back to Waukon where he worked for his family at the City Club from 1979 to 1989. He also helped his mother with her rental properties doing general maintenance. Richard was a life time member of Zion United Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

Survivors include his mother, Florence Cooper of Waukon; 2 sons, Jeff (Shelia) Moen of Baxter, MN and their children Mariah, Jake and Gabe; Tony (Samatha) Moen of Goodridge, MN and their children Preston and Shylie; a brother, Glenn (Janice) Cooper of Waukon; 4 nephews, Kevin (Karen) Cooper of Waukon and their children Alyssa, Leah and Garrett, Craig Cooper of Medford, OR, Mike (Tina) Cooper of Waukon, and their children Garth and McKenzie, and Mark (Kelly) Cooper of Dubuque and their children Katrina and Brady. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald and a brother, Kenneth.

Casketbearers were Frank Magner, Rick and Neal Baumgartner, Kevin, Mike and Mark Cooper.
