Phyllis L. Snitker, 85, of Rossville, IA, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 27th, at 1:30 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Tim Rupert officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services on Monday, at the funeral home.
Phyllis LaVonne Snitker was born December 18, 1931, in rural Monona, IA, the Hickory Creek area the daughter of Henry and Iva (Ames) Snitker. She attended Rossville Country School, Waukon High School, and later received her GED. On February 18, 1948, she married Leonard Junior Snitker at the First Presbyterian Parsonage in Waukon, IA. They farmed together on a farm a quarter of a mile west of Rossville. Phyllis also worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon, for thirty nine and a half years, until it closed in 2008.
She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and was active in the ladies organizations. Phyllis was also a member of the Women's Bowling Association. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Terri (Glenn) Krueger, and Greg (Shirley) Snitker both of Waukon; a daughter-in-law Jane Snitker of Waukon; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leonard who died in 2003; a son Michael; a grandson Jason Berg; a great-granddaughter Addison Jane Snitker; a sister Marjorie Ridgeway; a brother Reed Snitker; and two nephews: Carles Moe and Reed Snitker Jr.
Honorary casketbearers are Kari Beth Krueger, Kasha Larson, and Ashley Snitker. Casketbearers are Kris and Ethan Krueger, Jeremy, Jason, and Justin Strub, and Andy Snitker.
