Peggy S. Berg, 49, of Victoria, TX, formerly of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, surrounded by her loving husband and two children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22nd, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon where there will be a 3:45 PM scripture service. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family respectfully requests that donations in Peggy's name be directed to AIM at Melanoma; 3217 Bob O Link Court, Plano, Texas 75093.
Peggy Sue Berg was born September 28, 1964, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Ronald and Darlene (Flage) Winkie. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1983. On August 13, 1983 she married Kyle Berg and they lived together in Victoria. Peggy worked in Early Childhood Intervention Region III Education Service Center as a Child Find Coordinator for 16 years, and in Education for more than 20 years. She was very passionate about making a difference in the lives of every child and family she encountered. Peggy was a loving wife and mother and loved to spend time with her family and friends including her beloved dog Max. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Peggy was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Peggy is survived by her loving family: husband Kyle Berg of Victoria, TX; her children: Megan Berg of Austin, TX, and Ryan Berg of Victoria, TX; her mother Darlene Winkie of Postville, IA; a sister Connie (Matt) Hobson of Waterloo, IA; two brothers: Brad (Linda) Winkie of Waukon, IA, and Brian (JoAnn) Winkie of Palo, IA; her father-in-law Donald Berg of Aransas Pass, TX. She is also survived by four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, 10 nieces, four nephews, and five great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death her father Ronald; a niece Crystal Hobson, and her mother-in-law Doriene Berg (Geno).
Pallbearers will be Timothy Berg, Darrold Brink, Gerald Brink, Matt Hobson, Jared Winkie and Roger Wooden.
