Paul F. Selberg, 82, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.


Paul Frederick Selberg was born on July 4, 1926 in Waukon, IA, the son of Fred and Nettie (Mostad) Selberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1944. On December 28, 1952 he married Marcella Kolsrud at the Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville, IA. Paul and Marcella farmed the Selberg farm in Jefferson Township where they raised crops, dairy cows, beef cows and hogs.

Paul was a member at St. John's Lutheran Church where he served on many boards and committees. He also served on the board of directors for Scandinavian Mutual Insurance. Paul enjoyed farming, reading, following current and world events, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and following their activities. Paul was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye's fan.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella Selberg of Waukon; his children, Kevin (Judy) Selberg of Waukon, Kyle (Sharon) Selberg Des Moines, IA and Nyla (Keith) Kennard of Coppell, TX; 7 grandchildren, Erik, Laura, Paul, Andrew and Katharine Selberg and Aaron and Nathan Kennard; 2 step-grandchildren, Phil and Scott Delgado. He is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sidney and Martha Kolsrud.

Honorary casketbearers are Katharine Selberg, Nathan and Aaron Kennard. Casketbearers are Kevin, Kyle, Erik, Laura, Andrew and Paul Selberg and Keith Kennard.
