Nicole Mcgeough

May 9, 1996 — June 25, 2024

Nicole M. McGeough, of Prescott Valley, AZ, 28, formerly of Waukon, IA, passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at her home in Arizona. A prayer service will be held Saturday, July 20th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at St. Pius Cherry Mound Cemetery in rural Harpers Ferry, IA, at a later date. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until time of services at the church on Saturday. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Nicole was born May 9, 1996, at Winneshiek Memorial Hospital in Decorah, IA, to Laurie Gjere and Michael McGeough. She was baptized at St. Pius Cherry Mound Catholic Church, rural Harpers Ferry. Renewing her faith, Nicole was confirmed at St. Ann's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. She attended kindergarten through sixth grade at St. Patrick's school. In 2014, Nicole graduated from Waukon High School and continued her education at NICC in Calmar, IA. Nicole received her nursing degree and attained her goal of becoming an RN.

Nicole spent the last several years doing what she loved as a traveling nurse. She especially loved working in mental health. Along the way, she met many fellow nurses and made great friends in every state.

Nicole was adventurous, packing up her car and taking off for new assignments, not knowing anyone or the hospital where she'd be working. There was no way of stopping her from fulfilling her dream. She would do sightseeing on her travels, taking in all the beauty as shown in the photos she took.

She loved being with friends, dining out, and children (especially special needs). Nicole had a heart of gold and would do anything for her family and friends. She also had a weird sense of humor that endeared her to many. Nicole could make the greatest faces and funny comments. She always lived life to the fullest.

To know Nicole was like the warmth of sunshine and goodness wrapped in her smile. She radiated joy like no other. If you see a butterfly, think of her, adventurous and bringing beauty to all. Nicole was proud to be a "ginger", so when you see a copper penny, remember her.

Surviving is her mother Laurie Gjere of Waukon and her father Michael McGeough of Monona, IA, sisters: Danielle (Adam) Chase of Harpers Ferry, Erica Lewey, Morgan (Brad) Radloff, and Michele (Dustin) Henkes, all of Monona, and Emily (Jay) Jones of Blair, IA; brothers: Mitchell Burroughs of Waukon and Michael Burroughs of New Lisbon, WI; grandparents Harlan Sr. and Dorothy Gjere of Mabel, MN; aunts and uncles: Harlan Jr. (Roxanne) Gjere, Steven (Denise) Gjere, Cheryl (Brian) Aberg, Linda (Blaine) Wilder, Brenda Lisenby, Nancy Gjere, Lavonne (Mike Caffrey) Gjere, bonus aunt Penny Wheeler, Margaret (Don) LaKose, Marcia (Pat) Wilson, Sue (Mike) McMillan, Maureen Garin, and Adrian (Jackie) McGeough; nieces and nephews: Bradyn and Ryan Chase, Briana Young, Michael and Brinan Berger, Hunter and Hanna Cherrier, Brooklyn and Bryce Radloff, Brystal and Britley Donahue, Kaylee and Kynlee Baker, and Jese Lewey.

Nicole was preceded in death by her son Xavier John Pettit in 2012; her grandparents Keith and Rose McGeough; cousins Lindsey McMillan and Brian Garin; and brother-in-law Dustin Lewey.

Honorary urnbearers are Nicole's nieces and nephews.
