Neil M. Krumme, 84, of Waukon, IA, died Thursday, January 16, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 21st, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Church of Christ with Pastor Sue Klimstra officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, both in rural Waukon. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday at the church. Neil Milton Krumme was born April 1, 1940, in Ludlow township in rural Waukon, the son of Milton and Miriam (Straate) Krumme. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ and graduated high school in 1958. Following high school, Neil proudly served in the National Guard from 1958-1966 where he worked as a combat engineer.
Neil met the love of his life, Ann Grotegut, and after his service the two were married on August 28, 1966, at Salem United Church of Christ. Throughout his life, Neil worked as a farmer. He was very happy to have been a part of the family farm becoming a Heritage Farm. He was a hard worker and farmed up until the last 3 months of his life. He also loved his family, church, enjoyed bowling, and water skiing. Neil had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Neil is survived by his wife Ann; two daughters: Keri and Kathy Krumme; two brothers-in-law: Randy Grotegut & Gary (Deb) Grotegut; one sister-in-law Wendy (Mike) Kimber; nieces and nephews; Angela (Darren) Burroughs, Crystal Kimber, Zach (Trisha) Kimber, Devon Kimber, Heidi Henderson, Renee (Wes) Wade, Justin (Pamela) Grotegut, Josh (Heather Goeke) Grotegut, Chris Krumme, Jon Krumme, Robyn (Adam Kredovski) Jessen, Jackie (John McCormick) Jessen and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Willard and Esther (Ellingson) Grotegut; a brother Allen (Peggie) Krumme; and sister-in-law Diane Brown (Gene Brown).
Honorary casketbearers are Mike Kimber, Randy Grotegut, Dalton, Preston, and Darren Burroughs. Casketbearers are Zack & Devon Kimber, Zach Bushman, David Dougherty, John Palmer, Jeremy Peake.
