Nancy Jean Huffey

Nancy J. Huffey, 66, of Boscobel, WI, formerly of Waterville, IA, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022, under the loving care of her sister and niece along with Hospice home care in Viroqua, WI. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 26th, at 11:00 AM at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon. Burial will be held at a later date in Old East Paint Creek Cemetery, rural Waterville. Family and friends may call from 9:30 AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home in Waukon. In lieu of flowers, donations will be forwarded in Nancy's name to the Gundersen Medical Foundation for the education of colorectal cancer screening.

Nancy Jean Huffey was born August 31, 1955, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of George and Jean (Boess) Huffey. She was baptized and confirmed at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA. Nancy graduated from Waukon High School in 1973, where she played on the first girls' softball and basketball teams and set records on the track team. She also attended NIACC in Mason City, IA, where she played softball and basketball and later attended Western Technical College in La Crosse, WI. Over the years Nancy loved working on the family farm in rural Waterville and most recently worked at Nu-Pak North and Prairie Industries in Prairie du Chien, WI, retiring in 2019.

Nancy, along with her friend Brenda Boak, had a hobby farm (Serenity Farm) near Boscobel, WI, where she lived for more than 20 years and raised horses, goats, chickens, and guinea hens. Nancy loved spending time restoring the old family farm log houses and helping to maintain the family farm. Nancy also enjoyed camping, kayaking, her ATV, and horseback riding.

Family and friends describe her as eternally optimistic, a carefree spirit, salt of the earth, compassionate, loyal, forgiving, understanding, hardworking, and a woman of action.

Survivors include her mother Jean Huffey of Waterville; her siblings: Dawn Huffey of Lansing, Marcia (Bruce Frost) Huffey of Viroqua, WI, Lisa (Barry) Fruechte of New Albin, and Bradley (Eliezer Bermudez) Huffey of Washington, UT; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father George; and a brother Randall Huffey.
