Myron "Mike" A. Riste, 90, of rural Waukon, IA, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, at his home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 23rd, at 2:00 PM at Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, IA, with Pastor Stacey Nalean-Carlson officiating.
Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting with arrangements.
Myron "Mike" Adolph Riste was born May 17, 1923, in Decorah, IA, the son of Adolph and Jenney "Myrtle" (Williams) Riste. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Decorah and attended Decorah schools. Mike worked for Nehi Bottling in Decorah for 32 years before working for Pepsi-Cola in Dubuque, IA. On May 17, 1975, Mike married Ann Knockel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After retiring in 1985, Mike and Ann moved to an acreage in rural Waukon, IA. Mike was an outdoor enthusiast. He loved to fish, hunt deer and turkey, and dig ginseng.
Mike is survived by his wife Ann of rural Waukon; three children: Todd (Jody) Riste of St. Ansgar, IA, Steven (Denise) Riste of Lyle, MN, and Kathy (Jim) Wirt of Spring Green, WI; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kathleen Hermann; sister Vi Ryan; and brother Richard Riste.
