Mikayla Archuleta

Mikayla M. (Holly) Archuleta, 29, of Waterloo, IA, formerly Farmington, NM, and Waukon, IA, passed away unexpectedly at her home Saturday, December 2, 2023. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9th, at 1:00 PM at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Steve Oden officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Frankville Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at Martin - Grau Funeral Home.

Mikayla Marie (Holly) Archuleta was born to Crystal (Fowler) Hughes of Waterloo, IA, and Kevin Holly of Cresco, IA, on July 26, 1994, in Waukon, IA. Mikayla married her husband Adam Archuleta on May 16, 2019, in Farmington, NM. Together they had two children, Aria Lynn Marie and Robert John. Mikayla and Adam moved to Waterloo in 2021 to be closer to her family and friends.

From the moment Mikayla was born, everyone knew she was going to grow into a very vibrant and outspoken person. Mikayla was a "mother hen" to many and more so to her younger brothers; she would do anything she could to help anyone in need. Mikayla loved basketball, arts, crafting, sewing, tattoos, piercings, and photography. Every time Mikayla would go anywhere, she would take pictures of herself or family and would constantly be taking pictures of her children; they were her world. She loved showing off to her family on many social media platforms.

Mikayla had a special bond with her grandmother Lanette Burroughs, and they talked for hours and on a daily basis. Mikayla lived for her family and friends and will be forever in our hearts till we join her one day.

Mikayla is survived by her husband Adam of Waterloo; her daughter Aria and son Robert; father Kevin Holly (Amanda Roe) of Cresco; mother Crystal (Scott) Hughes of Waterloo; mother-in-law Katherine Perea of Kirtland, NM; brothers: Dakota (Karen) Holly, Blake Holly, and Ethan (Madison Brown) Holly, all of Waterloo; sister-in-law Linda Bagley of Albuquerque, NM; grandparents: Lanette Burroughs of Hazelton, IA, Linda Fowler of Waterloo, and Shirley Peterson of Waukon; and many aunts and uncles as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by stepfather Jimmy Weahkee; grandfathers: Phillip Fowler and Garland "Bugsy" Burroughs; aunt Carrieanne Larson; uncle Daniel Burroughs; father-in-law Fermin Archuleta; brother-in-law Alex Archuleta; and cousins: Jennie Mahr and Carly Larson.

Honorary casketbearers are Dakota, Blake, and Ethan Holly, David and Darren Burroughs, and Dale Martinez.
