Michael Thomas Zeimet

Michael T. Zeimet, 71, of New Albin, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 27, 2023, at his home. A sharing time will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 6th, at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until time of services at the community center. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in Lansing, IA, is handling arrangements.

Michael Thomas Zeimet was born on July 27,1952, the son of Thomas & Goldie (Thimmesch) Zeimet. Upon graduation from St. George High School in Lansing, IA, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He entered the Silent Service (submarine forces). While stationed at the U.S. Naval submarine base in Groton, Connecticut, he met his first wife and the mother of their three sons while traveling to different duty stations around the country.

Mike had a great passion for the outdoors. His love of hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping lives on in his sons. In Mike's later years, he enjoyed these activities with his beloved "Brown Dog".

He was preceded by both parents and grandparents; a sister Leonette Zeimet; nephew Charles Baker; great-nephew Logan Zeimet; and his second wife Cindy.

Mike is survived by his three sons: Patrick, Thomas, and James, a grandson and granddaughter, all in Connecticut; a special niece Melissa of Iowa; two sisters: Bonnie and Patricia, both of New Albin, IA; and many relatives across the country.
