Michael "Mick" Stamper, 58, of Waukon, IA, died Monday, January 3, 2011, at his home in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7th, at 1:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon.
Michael LeRoy Stamper was born January 13, 1952 in Guttenburg, IA, the son of Victor and Nora Margaret (Grimstad) Stamper. He graduated form Waukon High School in 1970. After high school he went to work for Great Plains in Waukon for two years. Mick worked at Northern Engraving from 1972 until they closed in 2008. On January 22, 1986 he married Sue Dahlke at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. Mick was a member of Waukon Golf and Country Club for many years. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing and following NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Stamper of Waukon; his children, Audrea (Mike) Peterson of Waukon, Dustin (Melissa) Folsom of Luana and Trace Stamper of Waukon; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Nora Stamper of Waukon; 2 sisters, LaJune (Rich) Cota of Waukon and Rhonda (Randy) Rema of Postville; a brother, Edward (Karen) Stamper of Waukon and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Dahlke of Waukon; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Victor, his father-in-law, Donald Dahlke; a sister-in-law, Liz Butikofer and a niece, Sarah Dahlke.
Honorary casketbearers are Christina, Tanner and Trent Peterson, Logan Timp, Carly and Caylee Cole, Veda, Alana, Riely and Brock Folsom. Casketbearers are Chuck Larson, Rick Hagensick, Brian Deeney, Rich Cota, Karl and Bill Dahlke.
