Michael "Mike" Edward Jermier

Michael E. Jermier, 82, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Urbandale, IA, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, surrounded by his children. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 20th, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon, IA. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will take place at 3:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials are welcome.

Michael "Mike" Edward Jermier was born on August 11, 1939, in Charles City, IA, the son of George and Irene (Self) Jermier. Mike grew up in Charles City, where he attended school and met and married his high school sweetheart Sharon Hanson on August 15, 1959. Mike attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and was a member of the wrestling team. Following college, Mike and Sharon moved to Waukon, where he taught biology and coached wrestling, football, and golf, remaining there until 1984, when he gave up teaching and moved to Urbandale to work for Pioneer Hi Bred, officially retiring in 2006.

Mike and Sharon enjoyed raising their five children and spending time as a family camping and fishing. They also took pleasure in get-togethers with their friends, playing the guitar and singing late into the evening. They had 46 wonderful years together until Sharon passed in 2005.
Mike enjoyed golfing, playing the guitar, and watching the Chicago Cubs. He was an avid crossword puzzler and enjoyed the hunt of metal detecting all over the United States.

Mike is survived by his children: Jenny (Steve) Clark of Waukee, IA, Jay (Caryl) of Lanesboro, MN, Andy (Pam) of St. Charles, IA, Dusty (Catherine) of Richmond, CA, and Amy (Mike) Wearmouth of West Des Moines, IA; his brother John "Jersey" Jermier of Cedar Falls, IA; eight grandchildren: Rochelle Rose, Derek and Kelsie Wearmouth, and Michael, Emily, Madelyn, Zach, and Blake Jermier; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon; two sisters: Kay and Dorothy; and a brother Don.
