Mary E. Ohm, 90, of Appleton, WI, fomerly of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in Appleton. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16th, at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, IA, with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Paint Rock Cemetery, Harpers Ferry. A visitation was previously held at Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, is assisting with local arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Ohm was born on July 11, 1923, in Waterloo, IA, to Thomas and Marcella (Melavan) Cavanaugh. Mary served her country proudly during WWII as a veteran of the US Navy. In 1974, she moved from Monona, WI to Appleton, WI, with her husband Bob. Bob was an Appleton area school teacher for many years and a fellow WWII veteran. Mary was a dedicated homemaker and caregiver for her family. Mary loved her flowers and had a fabulous display in front of her home every year. She was also very fond of her pets.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed and loved forever by 5 generations.

Mary is survived by six children: Bob Forler of McFarland, WI, Arlene (Mike) Larson of Jacksonville, FL, Wayne (Char) Forler of DeForest, WI, Marilyn (Richard) Schoen of Hartland, WI, Allen Forler of Wisconsin Dells, and Raymond (Jane) Forler of Appleton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert D. Ohm; and one daughter Elaine Gibson.
