Mary A. Kaeser, 76, of Monona, IA, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in rural Monona. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 26th, at 11:00 AM at Rossville Presbyterian Church in Rossville, IA. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, rural Monona. Friends may call one hour before the services at the the church on Friday. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Anne Kaeser was born October 21, 1936, in rural Monona, IA, the daughter of Lee F. and Gayle (Thias) Smith. She attended Waterville schools. On January 1, 1954, she married Walter Kaeser at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA; they farmed together in rural Monona, for several years. They lived in Mesa, AZ, for a short time before moving to Rossville, IA, in 1995 she moved to her parents farm in rural Monona. Mary worked at the Good Samaritan Center until she retired in 1997.
She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church where she was active in its ladies groups and served on the church council. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, taking car rides, visiting the Amish in the area, collecting cookbooks and always willing to try a new recipe. She had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include her children: Paul Kaeser, Elizabeth (Tony) Wille, Gwen Hoth, and Todd (Lauri) Kaeser all of Monona, Jan (Ken) Baumler of Waukon, and Gary Kaeser of Castalia; 10 grandchildren: Andreana and Trevor Hoth, Corey Kaeser, Kayla and Kyle Frye, Terrell and Emanuel Baumler, Andy Samuelson, Kennedy Kaeser and Kirk Tesar; and 1 great-granddaughter: Payton Brzezinski. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter who died in 1989; a daughter: Mitzi Kaeser who died when she was three months old and a son-in-law, Alan Hoth who died in 2006.
Honorary casketbearers are Mary's grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.
