Mary Delaney, 91, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes, Fr. Donald Hawes, and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 3:45 PM scripture service and a 5:30 PM VFW Auxiliary service.
Mary Delaney was born January 14, 1925, in rural Harpers Ferry, IA, the daughter of Edward and Nellie (Manning) Revoir. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Wexford Catholic Church in rural Lansing, IA, and graduated from Harpers Ferry High School in 1943. On August 29, 1946, she married Lester Delaney at Immaculate Conception Wexford Catholic Church. Mary was a bookkeeper for Farm Service and JC Penney, both in Waukon. She and Lester owned and operated the Dari-O for three years.
Mary was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she served on the parish council and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, knitting, and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband Lester Delaney of Waukon; two daughters: Mary Kay Martin and Karen (Perry) Norton, both of Waukon; three grandchildren: Michele (Mike Conway) Martin, Brian Norton, and Nikki (Luke) Greazel; five great-grandchildren: Mike and Jordyn Burroughs, Anna Norton, and Rylie and Tyler Greazel. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son Ralph Delaney; a son-in-law Harlan Martin; a infant granddaughter Christine Norton; two sisters: Catherine Hennessy and Marquerite Plein; and a brother Francis Revoir.
Casketbearers are Bill Hennessy, Brian Norton, Mike Burroughs, Mark Plein, Leo Folsom, Luke Greazel, and Mike Conway.
