Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7th, at 11:00 AM at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may greet the family from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary Lou Bublitz was born August 17, 1940, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Edward A. and Mattie E. (Winke) Becker. She was baptized at Zalmona Presbyterian Church and graduated from Waukon High School in 1958. Over the years, she worked at Good Samaritan Society, Northgate Care Center, and Mosaic as a medical nurse's aide, making many lifelong friends. On April 20, 1974 she married Albert Leslie Bublitz. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. After Albert passed away, Mary continued on her adventures, taking many trips to California and she loved sitting by the pool at Lori's house. She was also a diehard Waukon Indians Football fan. For years on Friday nights, you could find her listening to the games on the radio and posting the scores on Facebook for all her friends and family. In 2018, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and showed it who was boss.
Mary was a big personality in a small package. She had an impact on everyone she met and was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, full of joy, and a ball of fire that showed us all what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. She lived her life to the fullest.
Mary is survived by her children: Lori (Scott) Pearce of Bettendorf, IA, and Kim (Dan) Dingbaum of Moorpark, CA; and grandchildren: Carsen (Mikayla) Pearce, Connor Pearce, Elizabeth Dingbaum, Heather (Thomas) Dingbaum-Maires, and Zachary (Elizabeth) Dingbaum. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Albert in 2007; brothers: Dale (Roberta) Becker and Neil (Maureen) Becker; and a sister Ruby (Kenneth) Evans.
Honorary casketbearers are Mary's cherished friends, whom she loved dearly. Casketbearers are Carsen, Connor, and Scott Pearce, Dan and Zachary Dingbaum, Tim Becker, Kevin Bublitz, and Joe Evans.
