Martin James "Marty" Heimer, 44, of La Crescent, MN, died on Sunday, September 28th, 2008 at the Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis.Family and friends may call at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 21 No. Hill Street, La Crescent, on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A visitation for family and friends will also be held on Wednesday, October 1st from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Martin Funeral Home, 202 Allamakee St, Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 2nd at 11:00 AM at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, rural Waukon, IA with Rev. Ken Kimball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Martin James Heimer was born on March 14, 1964 in Des Moines, IA to Robert Francis and Shirley Ann (Hobbs) Heimer. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1982 and moved to Gillette, WY where he worked as a well driller for Ruby Drilling Co. He married Dawn Hansmeier on June 30, 1984 in Waukon, IA. Marty joined the US Air Force on October 10, 1986. He was stationed at Travis AFB, CA, Edwards AFB, CA and Altus AFB, OK. He was discharged on July 19, 2000. In July of 2001, Marty began working at Benchmark Electronics in Winona as a program manager. Marty enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, working out and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Dawn, three children, Kate, Douglas (fiancé' Tiffany) and Daniel, his parents, Robert and Shirley Heimer, a brother Scott (Connie) Heimer, five sisters, Cheryl (Steve) Kiesau, Lynette Corkery, Susan (Dean) Burroughs, Mary (Joel) Anderson and Cathy (Jim) Gelo, grandparents, Agatha Heimer and Delbert Hobbs, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Marvin Heimer and Mary Hobbs.

Casketbearers are Ross Anderson, Reid Wurtzel, Andrew Burroughs, Stuart Gelo, Matthew Heimer, and Mason Berns.
