Marsha Lynn Bieber was born on August 11, 1949, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Rudolph Benhart and Viola Emma (Snitker) Moen. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and graduated as valedictorian of her class at Waukon High School in 1967. Following graduation she worked in Decorah, IA, as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Marsha enjoyed riding horses and would often go to the Bieber farm and ride with Willard along with other family members. On June 12, 1971, she and Willard Louis Bieber were married at Zion United Church of Christ. They started their life together living in Waukon and commuting to the farm. In 1977 they moved to the country and settled into the house they still called home. Marsha was an active homemaker during their first years of marriage, caring for the needs of her three children and maintaining many active household activities. She was an accomplished seamstress and often made clothing for her family. Baking and cooking were activities she excelled at and enjoyed sharing with friends and family. She raised a big garden, canned much of her produce, and took immaculate care of her home and farmsteads.
Music was an important part of Marsha's life. She enjoyed singing in the choir at Zion Church and prioritized the music education of her children. One of her greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren share their musical talents, and the holidays were not complete without her children playing piano duets of Christmas songs. When time allowed she enjoyed trail riding with Willard and sharing her baked goods with neighbors and friends. Marsha greatly enjoyed being outside and as her children grew older, her time shifted to a much more active role on the farm. She took part of all the activities on the farm, helping with the field work as well as raising the hogs and beef cattle and doing all of the farm bookwork. As Willard's health began to fail over the last few years, she worked to balance the roles of full-time farmer, bookkeeper and homemaker with the demands of an active caregiver to her husband.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Willard of Waukon; her children: Brian of Waukon, Lisa (Erik) Hagen of Waterville, and Jeff (Elisabeth) of Parkersburg, IA; six grandchildren: Michael, Katherine, Hannah, and Mark Hagen and Elliot and Elise Bieber; a brother Dale Moen of Decatur, MI; and two sisters: Dianne Long of Decorah, IA and Janice (Paul) Peterson of Pardeeville, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents.
