Marlin Roderick, 80, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18th, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marlin William Taylor Roderick was born November 29, 1931 in rural Waukon, IA, the son of William Gilbert and Anna Marie (Huffman) Roderick. He was baptized at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1949. Marlin worked for Feuerhelm Manufacturing for several years and later as a night watchman at Northern Engraving both in Waukon. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Marlin enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with family.
Survivors include 2 sisters, Carol (James) Moe of Waukon and Sharon Massie of Indio, CA; 2 brothers, Oliver (Margery) Roderick of Waukon and Gilbert Leroy (Sharon) Roderick of Oshkosh, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Robert; 2 sisters, Leota Prestemon and Alta Prestemon; and 2 nephews, Mark Prestemon and Joel Moe.
Honorary casketbearers are Glen Moe, Brian and David Prestemon, Burdell and Kevin Roderick. Casketbearers are Eric Massie, Jeff and Todd Moe, Jason and John Collins and Gilbert Leroy Roderick.
