Marlene Lorraine Moline was born on April 26, 1937 in Marshalltown, IA. She was the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Beach) McGrath. Marlene graduated from Marshalltown High School and the University of Iowa, where she received her degree in education, spending one of her summer terms studying in Guadalajara, Mexico. She taught English and Spanish in Colfax, Lansing, and Waukon, IA schools. While teaching in Lansing, Marlene met Russell Moline, and was married on June 3, 1961 at the Friends Church in Marshalltown, IA. They returned to Lansing where they farmed the Moline Family farm near Church, IA. In 1996 they sold the farm to son Frank, and both Russell and Marlene started a new adventure in life as over the road truck drivers. Although Marlene never drove, she and Russell enjoyed exploring the many beautiful areas of our great nation.
Marlene was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, was active in its Ladies Fellowship and Prayer Chain. An exceptional artist, she devoted many hours to making an extensive collection of intricately designed banners for the church she loved. She was an avid reader, diligently researching topics of great interest to her. Marlene was also very creative: exhibiting at local craft shows, sewing, writing poems, and baking. She was in the final stages of publishing a children's book she had written and illustrated.
Survivors include her husband Russell of Lansing; her children: Cristiana of Walnut Creek, CA, and Frank (Kim) of Zumbrota, MN; and grandchildren: Nathaniel and Samuel.
Casketbearers are Robert, Mitchell, Ross, Scott, Nathaniel, and Frank Moline.
