Marjorie M. Held, 97, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society in Waukon. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 26th, at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Postville, IA, with Karla Johnson officiating. A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at a later date. Condolences can be sent to Linda Sweeney at 3612 W. 3rd Street, Anacortes, WA, 98221. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Good Samaritan Society in Waukon or Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.
Marjorie Mae Held was born September 4, 1923, in Ludlow Township, Waukon, IA, to Albert and Ida (Becker) Winke. She attended rural country schools and graduated from Waukon High School in 1941. She married Clifford Held at Salem United Church of Christ Church in rural Waukon on October 7, 1943. Marjorie and Clifford farmed together in Ludlow Township for over 50 years. Marjorie also worked at the Good Samaritan Center and at Agri Processors, both in Postville.
She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was active in women's ministry, and served as an Elder. She enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing, and traveling, which included a trip to Germany and Hawaii.
Survivors include her children: Keith (Virginia) Held of Republic, WA, and Linda (Tom) Sweeney of Anacortes, WA; three granddaughters: Penny (Bill) Held-Wright, Holly (Jason) Hallquest, and Krista Sweeney; four great-grandchildren; and a sister Marilyn (Ronnie) Jahnke of Waukon. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford, who died in 1999; and a sister Lorna Kruger Ashbacher.
Casketbearers are Randy Kruger, Mark, Darrel, Greg, and Gary Jahnke, and Dennis Kloke.
